Choosing a MacBook Can Be a Money-Smart Move
A few months back, I warned everyone about the temptation to splurge on new Apple products right before the iPhone 6 launch. I’m not a fan of buying the latest stuff just because it’s new. However, I believe in quality.
Often we make a choice between being cheap and being frugal, and I think it boils down to quality. I don’t just buy the least expensive option – I look for the best deal, which sometimes means spending more.
I’ve been wondering lately when my current computer might give up the ghost. And when it does, how much am I willing to pay for a replacement?
Years ago in 2009, I was practically debt-free and felt a little wild, so I bought a MacBook. I’d had enough of my HP laptop dying on me, and despite the price difference between a PC laptop and a MacBook, I took the plunge.
Move ahead to 2015 and I don’t buy costly items on a whim anymore. To top it off, my iPhone is also on its last leg, with random freezes and crashes.
This leads me to my dilemma – what should I buy next? Apple products are expensive, but in my experience, they’re also quality items. Because I’ve had my MacBook since 2009, I’ve saved money in the long run despite its high upfront cost compared to other PCs I could’ve bought at the time.
I’ve decided to put aside some money for my next MacBook. However, if it’s not as durable and reliable as this one, Apple will be hearing from me.
The decision about my next phone is yet to be made. It’s going to take some research and careful consideration whether to stick with Apple or go for another brand.
How do you weigh up brand loyalty, your budget, and thrifty decisions?
